Alphonso Davies has still not been able to return to training after getting infected with Covid-19, and during a press conference, Julian Nagelsmann explained his situation and the reason his return may take longer than expected.
“Alphonso Davies has signs of slight myocarditis after his corona infection. It’s not dramatic, but he will be sidelined for the next few weeks because it takes time to heal" said Nagelsmann. myocarditis is a disease that affects the heart since it produces inflammation on the middle layer of the heart wall.
The heart wall is the muscle in charge of producing the palpitations since it constantly contracts and releases. The middle layer is the thickest one, known as myocardium, the other two layers are just protective layers so the myocardium is the only muscle that palpitates in the heart wall. The affection in other terms on the body is that it reduces the heart's abilities to pump blood to the rest of the body.
People with this disease may experience chest pain, dizziness, fatigue, swelling in extremities, shortness of breath, or even palpitations.
Davies won't be able to join his teammates for the next few weeks, but his return will hopefully be in February. He hasn't played since December 14, this is not great news for the German club but still, Alphonso's physical condition shouldn't let other clubs underestimate them since Bayern Munich has proven to be one of the biggest clubs this past season.
