Today the Ballon d'Or ceremony held by France Football in France occurred. The Chatelet Theater was the host of this year's event where all the four awards were presented (Kopa trophy, Yashin trophy, Woman's Ballon d'Or, and Men's Ballon d'Or). Here are the winners.
Men's Ballon d'or:
For the 7th time, Lionel Andrés Messi won this award. The Argentine won Copa America and Copa del Rey. With his family there he received the award at 34 years of age and for the first time in Paris. This is also his first award since he left FC Barcelona. After receiving his award Leo thanked his Barcelona teammates, National team teammates, PSG teammates, and staff.
Woman's Ballon d'or:
Alexia Putellas is the winner of the woman's version, she is an FC Barcelona player and captain of Spanish nationality. She is the first person from Spain to earn this distinction. This season with her teammates she was crowned champion of the League, Champions League, and Copa de la Reina. She is 27 years old and won the 3rd edition of the trophy with the previous winners being Megan Rapinoe and Ada Herberg.
Kopa trophy:
The winner of the third edition of the Kopa trophy is Pedri. The FC Barcelona player who also won the Golden Boy has been declared the winner. Pedri is only 19 years old and is now on the list of winners of the Kopa trophy along with Kyllian Mbappé and Matthijs De Ligt. This trophy is awarded to de best U-21 player and the magazine France Football has given this distinction to Pedri, another Spanish player to win tonight.
Yashin trophy:
The second winner of this award was Gianluigi Donnarumma, the first and only player to win
this other that the Italian is Alisson Becker, who won the first edition back in 2019. This award is in honor of Lev Yashin, Ex goalkeeper from Russia that once won the Ballon d'Or. Donnarumma with 22 years of age was also a nominee for the Ballon d'Or but the only award he won was the Yashin.
