The England manager Gareth Southgate has questioned new FIFA proposals on the world cup, recommending the contest to take place every 2 years instead of 4. This idea originated from Arsene Wenger, the ex-manager who coached Arsenal for many years. His idea is mainly judged by the new qualifying schedules, which Southgate judged in many forms.

Wegner's proposal is centered on having more meaningful international matches, so this led to the idea of doubling the amount of World Cups. Also, the qualifying matches will have different structures, by having around two separate months to play longer amounts of time. To this proposal, Southgate answered, "If a player got injured in October, he wouldn't play international football for a year, it just doesn't make sense".

“As I said at the start if you’re a player and you miss that one month or however long a break’s supposed to be, you don’t have an international career at all that year, that doesn’t seem to make sense to me.”

The UEFA has remained silent about the subject, but the European Union has already been judged several times, like Courtois who recently said “They don’t care about the players, they just care about their pockets.” while referring to UEFA and FIFA. Many fans have also disagreed with this concept, exclaiming that it

would decrease the value of becoming world champions, and that they no longer have interest in the sport, and turning it into business. Will this new proposal be applied in the sport, or will things stay the same as they are now?
